The design brief for Victoria Lane called for a special vision: to create a timeless building fitting of the magnificent outlook and sought-after location that would sit comfortably amongst Remuera’s top character homes. Leuschke Group Architects were a natural choice for the project. Their portfolio of successful high-end apartment developments – which includes The Hilton on Princes Wharf, Jervois & Lawrence in Herne Bay and The White Heron in Parnell – fuse contemporary luxury with functional design in confident architectural expression. They understand the subtleties of designing for buyers in the top end of the market and, in conjunction with James Doole Design, have delivered a collection of exquisite residences of the highest calibre.

THE ARCHITECT

With a long site that extends westwards from Victoria Avenue, it is a development that slowly reveals its significant size as you travel down to the arrival zone. Victoria Lane is comprised of two distinct buildings that connect above the porte cochere and at basement level. The eastern building – which fronts onto Victoria Avenue – has a lighter, modern exterior design of glass and bronze finish where the western building evokes images of masonry buildings from the early 20th century. This concept of ‘old meets new’ has been expertly executed throughout Victoria Lane to welcome this new building into a much-loved heritage neighbourhood. It is fitting that stone is used extensively in the facades and interiors of both buildings as it bestows a sense of permanence, elegance and timelessness to the design.

James

Doole

James Doole Design has been delivering elegant, luxury interiors on boutique projects for more than a decade. James and his team are highly-regarded for their ability to combine contemporary design with classical style when working on expensive character homes and high-end commercial developments. They were an exciting addition to the Victoria Lane team where the brief required a flair for the avant-garde blended with refined old-world opulence. Underpinning this eye for the dramatic are the fundamentals of great design: balance, function, attention to detail, and an understanding of total effect. Their work is striking and confident, yet timeless and harmonious with its surroundings.

Interior Design

Room To

Move

The residences at Victoria Lane display a calm sophistication in their approach to interior design. From the chevron floor with flush timber skirting to the coved ceiling with subtle batten detailing, this is an elegant canvas for luxury living. The generous open plan living spaces are large enough to accommodate substantial European sectional sofas and designer armchairs that would bloat a standard apartment.

Minimalist details like the flush joinery track and recessed curtains are a mark of quality, while features such as the gas fire, air conditioning and LED cove lighting elevate it to a 5-star living experience. And to top it off is that incredible outlook; a spectacular harbour view accented with Auckland’s most iconic cones.
